Weekly Horoscope August 19-25, 2024

Week in Overview

Throughout this week, the backdrop to all our experiences is the ongoing square between Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn retrograde in Pisces which is exact on Monday, August 19.

Here we have the tension between expansion and contraction, growth and limitation. Jupiter, the planet of abundance and optimism, wants to explore new horizons, blast open our knowledge, and deliver up opportunities. While , Saturn, especially retrograde in Pisces, pulls us back, asking us to be cautious, disciplined, and aware of our responsibilities.

We may feel a strong urge to push forward with big ideas and plans, yet be met with restrictions, delays, or the need to rethink our approach. Frustrating, yes, but also a necessary check to see if we’re building something sustainable and that’s aligned with our deeper truths.

We are asked to integrate the lessons of Saturn—patience, structure, and long-term vision—into Jupiter’s expansive drive.

So this week we might continue to have to manage the desire for big changes and the reality that true progress often requires careful planning and perseverance.

As I mentioned in last week’s forecast, Monday, August 19, is a huge moment of release - one of the biggest of the year.

The Full Moon, exact just before 11:30 AM, is potent for a bunch of reasons. It’s in a T-square with Uranus in Taurus and Mercury retrograde in Leo, which was just in the heart of the Sun. There’s a lot of tension and the potential for sudden, unexpected events or breakthroughs. We’re looking into our deepest heart’s desire and asking if this is the greatest freedom and fulfillment we can reach.

At the same time, there’s another T-square involving Venus in Virgo, Saturn retrograde in Pisces, and Jupiter in Gemini, creating tension around relationships, finances, and self-worth. Growth and restrictions, freedom and commitment, self-love and self-abandonment.

So it’s a supercharged Full Moon with not just one intense T-square but two - all involving our luminaries and closest planets. This is all very personal, no matter how detached we might try to be. The day May be filled with challenges or thoughts that test our flexibility, patience, and ability to navigate change.

What are you harvesting as summer draws to a close, and what do you want your future harvest to look like? Where do you want to commit and where must you say “goodbye”?

The pressure is even stronger for those with late-degree fixed sign placements (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio) and mutable sign placements around 17-18 degrees (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces).

Shortly after completing its opposition to the Sun and Mercury, the Moon goes void of course at 11:30 AM, giving us time to reflect - a lull of sorts in the middle of the day. It then enters Pisces just before 4 PM.

This shift into Pisces softens the energy slightly, a chance to breathe, connect with your inner world, and allow your emotions to flow without resistance.

On Monday, just remember that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Life is pushing us to let go of what no longer serves us, to make room for new beginnings as we move toward the waning phase of the Moon. Keep an eye on what surfaces Monday, as it will likely guide the next steps in your soul journey.

Tuesday, August 20, still carries the weight of yesterday’s intensity, like the slow, quiet recovery after a storm. The lingering tension is palpable, but there's a shift when the Pisces Moon conjuncts Saturn in the evening, bringing a different kind of wisdom to the table.

While Saturn in Pisces can often feel heavy and restrictive, this moon adds compassion and emotional depth, softening Saturn's usual sternness. It isn’t about avoiding the challenges but rather about embracing them with more intuition and empathy.

Where can we lean into our emotions, to feel rather than fight, to allow the natural ebb and flow of life to guide us rather than trying to force outcomes?

As the Pisces Moon sits with Saturn and squares Jupiter in Taurus and opposes Venus in Virgo, the tension from Monday’s T-square resurfaces, but this time there’s a subtle undercurrent of healing. This is also helped by Mercury retrograde in Leo approaching its trine to Chiron in Aries again. Can we see beyond the immediate struggles and tap into a deeper understanding of our inner needs and desires?

Remembering that the ongoing square between Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn retrograde in Pisces sets the stage for everything we experience this week.

A tug-of-war between the desire to grow, learn, and expand and the need to slow down, reflect, and face reality. Jupiter wants us to explore new possibilities, open doors, and think big, but Saturn is here to remind us that not everything can happen at once.

While Venus is pulling further away from her square to Jupiter, she’s now applying in a square to Mars in Gemini. The search for careful analysis and precision is beginning to clash with restless curiosity.

Over the next couple of days, this Mars and Venus square can stir up conflicts, especially in how we handle relationships.

Resist the urge to let pettiness and squabbles ruin a good thing.
Try to balance thoughtfulness with flexibility, analysis with spontaneity, without tipping too far in either direction. In the right alchemical hands, this tension once choreographed into your own dance, can breathe new life into partnerships.

Overall to get the most out of Tuesday find solace in the small moments - a quiet evening, a meaningful conversation, or take time to connect with your inner world.

Not all growth has to be hard-fought; sometimes, it’s about surrendering to the process and trusting that the universe has a way of leading us exactly where we need to go. While putting one foot in front of the other.

Wednesday, August 21 is buzzing as we feel the approach of the exact Venus-Mars square, which will perfect tomorrow night. This continues to stir the pot, particularly in relationships. Venus in Virgo demands careful analysis, order, and precision, while Mars in Gemini is restless, curious, and a bit scattered. There’s a clash between these two, especially around how we connect and manage our desires.

This tension could bring conflicts to the surface, but it also has the potential to generate new understanding and set relationships on a more rewarding course. Each time you overcome a difficulty together, your bond grows.

Today is also the final day of Leo season, with the Sun at the anaretic 29th degree. While Leo at its best is bold, creative, and full of life, at this degree, it can also become exaggerated or overwhelming. There’s a risk of going overboard - whether it’s being too dramatic, seeking attention in unhealthy ways, or letting pride and ego lead the way. Try to embrace the best of Leo’s warmth and creativity.

By mid-afternoon, the Pisces Moon is with Neptune, and both are in a sextile to Uranus. This deepens our intuition and connects us with our dreams, making it a potent time for reflection and sudden insights that seem to come from nowhere. However, with Neptune in the mix, there’s always the danger of getting lost in illusions or escapism, so try to stay grounded and aware.

The Moon goes void of course just before 3 p.m., creating a brief lull in the day - but don’t get too comfortable, because just after 4 p.m., the Moon enters fiery Aries. A waning moon but one that is bold and assertive, pushing us to take action.

The Moon’s immediate sextile to Pluto adds emotional intensity, making it a powerful time for deep connections and transformative actions. But with all this fire in the air, watch for acting impulsively or letting emotions run too hot.

Thursday, August 22 begins with a significant shift as the Sun enters Virgo, ushering in a season of practicality, discernment, and the desire to bring order to our lives. The fiery, expressive days of Leo season give way to being more grounded and thoughtful. It’s time to focus on the details, refine our routines, and get serious about the work that needs to be done as we head toward the harvest season.

The Sun in Virgo, brings a subtle but important change in the way we approach our goals. We’re no longer as focused on being seen or making bold statements; instead, we’re inclined to look inward, analyze, and perfect what we’ve been working on. This is a time for rolling up our sleeves and getting down to the nitty-gritty, making sure everything is in place for the months ahead.

The Venus-Mars square, which has been building over the past couple of days, perfects tonight just before 8:30 p.m. This tension between Venus in Virgo’s need for careful analysis and Mars in Gemini’s restless curiosity may have been creating friction in relationships which have been under so much pressure for a while now.

This is a potent night, where things can come to ahead. Do we want order and precision, or to explore, communicate, and act on impulse?

Watch out for conflicts, but of course there’s also an opportunity to bring fresh energy and insight into our partnerships —if we’re willing to work through the discomfort.

As the tense Venus Mars square perfects tonight, the silver lining is that Aries Moon. It’s sextile to Jupiter at the same time, is a chance to reconnect with our hopes and dreams, to see how far we’ve come, and to consider the next steps on our journey. We can also more easily tune into the bigger picture.

Also while we slept that Aries Moon started the day conjunct the North Node. This sets a subtle tone for Thursday that nudges us towards our karmic path, to take actions that align with our soul’s purpose.

Throughout it all, the lingering square between Jupiter and Saturn remains in the background, acting as a reminder that while we may be eager to expand and explore, there are still limits and responsibilities we need to consider.

Don’t rush, but don’t hold back too much either. The key is finding that sweet spot where intuition, action, and discernment meet.

As we move toward Friday morning, we’re also feeling the build-up of a powerful and healing sextile triangle between Mars in Gemini, Mercury retrograde in Leo, and Chiron retrograde in Aries.

This is an incredible opportunity to revisit and rework old wounds or conversations that have been left hanging.

Mars in Gemini pushes us to communicate, to get things off our chest, while Mercury retrograde in Leo is making us rethink how we’ve been expressing ourselves. Chiron in Aries is an invitation to address those sore spots with courage and honesty. All combined, it’s a chance for real healing. Now we can face what’s been holding us back and transform it into something that propels us forward.

Expect some very transformative, revealing conversations, thoughts and communication over these 24 hours.

Friday, August 23 kicks off in the predawn hours with a powerful boost as the Aries Moon joins Chiron and the sextile triangle with Mercury retrograde in Leo and Mars in Gemini.

This is perfect for healing conversations, a kinder more confidence-boosting self-talk and finding new ways to express ourselves. It’s a wonderful chance to revisit past issues with fresh perspectives, helping us mend what’s been broken and clear the air.

However, the momentum slows down as the Moon goes void of course just before 6:00 a.m., staying in this limbo for almost 12 hours. This is the time to relax, take it easy, and focus on tying up loose ends rather than starting anything new. There’s no rush, just let the day unfold naturally.

By 5:00 p.m., things shift again when the Moon enters steady Taurus, but immediately squares Pluto for the next hour or so. This can bring up some deep, intense emotions, obsession, stubbornness and standoffs - so be prepared for a bit of a rollercoaster as the evening sets in.

But Friday night is looking much smoother. The Taurus Moon trines the Virgo Sun, grounding us and bringing a sense of calm and stability. As Mercury retrograde in Leo is exactly sextile Mars in Gemini, creating a harmonious flow of communication and action. It’s a great time to enjoy some well-earned downtime, have meaningful and possibly very spirited conversations, or just unwind after the intensity of the day.

Saturday, August 24 brings a bit of relief after the intense energy of the past week. Mars makes an exact sextile to Chiron in the morning, and with Mercury still in the picture, we are continuing the theme of healing and taking action, including those important talks, on issues that have been lingering. This is a subtle, yet powerful energy that supports growth and understanding, especially if you’ve been working through personal or relationship challenges.

As we move into the evening, the waning Taurus Moon forms a gentle sextile to Jupiter, adding in optimism and comfort to the atmosphere. It’s a good for enjoying simple pleasures, connecting with nature, or indulging in a bit of relaxation.

Though things are relatively calmer, it’s worth noting that the Venus-Mars square is still within a degree, though it’s beginning to separate, as is the lingering square between Saturn and Jupiter. These tensions are easing, but they’re still there, reminding us of the undercurrents we’ve been navigating.

Overall, it’s a good Virgo season Saturday - perfect for grounding, tending to the details, and finding a bit of stability after a whirlwind week.

As we roll into Sunday, August 25 the Mercury-Mars-Chiron sextile triangle is still present, though it’s beginning to separate. There are no new major transits but the morning kicks off with a bit of tension because the Taurus Moon squares Mercury, potentially bringing some aggravations or miscommunications to the surface.

As the day moves on, things start to get more interesting, but in a good way. Around midday, the Taurus Moon makes a lovely trine to Venus in Virgo, which brings in some much-needed harmony. This is the perfect time to lean into ease, nurture your relationships, and enjoy the simple things that make life sweet. Whether it’s a comforting meal or just some quality time with loved ones, this is all about finding satisfaction in the little moments.

But then, by mid-afternoon, the Moon is with Uranus in Taurus, and things could get a bit more unpredictable. Uranus loves to shake things up, and with Venus in the mix, we might see some shifts in our finances or relationships. Stay flexible and open to new possibilities - something unexpected could actually turn out to be just what we needed.

Adding to this the Moon also pulls in a sextile to Neptune in Pisces as the afternoon wears on. This creates an intriguing dynamic between the Taurus Moon, Uranus, Venus, and Neptune, as were blending the practical with the dreamy, the personal with the ephemeral. There’s a real opportunity here to ground some of our visions into reality while staying open to the magic of what could be. Where the material world meets the mystical. This is also a wonderful time for relaxation, creativity, or just letting your mind wander. Not everything needs to be productive, imagination needs space to roam.

The Moon goes void of course shortly around 6pm, providing a brief pause before entering Gemini just after 8pm.

Once in Gemini, the Moon quickly trines Pluto, bringing depth and intensity to our thoughts and conversations as we head into the night, but in ways that are more illuminating than uncomfortable. Those seemingly insignificant small doses of the truth, freely communicated, bring us closer and paradoxically also set us free.

COMING UP…

Wednesday, August 28, Mercury will station direct, finally beginning to move forward again, but we won’t be out of the woods just yet. The shift will likely feel like the fog is slowly lifting, but there will still be some lingering haze to navigate. It will be time to start making sense of the confusion and miscommunications from the past few weeks, gradually piecing things together and finding clarity.

Adding to the intensity, that day Venus and Neptune will be locked in opposition, both sitting at 29 degrees - the critical anaretic degree, where things often come to a head. This will be further complicated by a T-square with Mars in Gemini. The dance between Venus and Neptune will be one of longing, idealism, and sometimes disillusionment, and Mars will add a sharp edge, pushing us to take action. Relationships and finances, might feel like they’re on a knife’s edge, teetering between dreams and reality.

The Cancer Moon will square the Nodes, adding another layer of emotional tension, pulling us between the past and the future. We’ll be asked to confront where we’ve been and where we’re going, with our emotions caught in the middle. A day cast into deep waters, with the potential for both breakthroughs and breakdowns. We will have to do our best to stay present, aware, and remember that sometimes the only way out is through.

Next Thursday, August 29, Venus enters her home sign of Libra early in the morning, shifting the energy towards harmony, balance, and a fresh focus on our relationships. Venus in Libra craves connection, beauty, and fairness, and over the next few weeks, we’ll find ourselves drawn to these qualities more and more.

As Venus enters Libra, she’ll form a trine with Pluto in Aquarius. This runs deep, bringing transformation into our connections. It’s going to be a few days for digging beneath the surface, getting real, and strengthening those bonds that matter most. Expect some powerful insights and the potential for real, meaningful change in how we love and relate.

Sunday, September 1 is an absolutely huge day to mark on the calendar. Uranus stations retrograde in the early morning, kicking off a five-month period (from September 1, 2024, to January 30, 2025) where we’ll be revisiting and reassessing all the shake-ups and surprises that Uranus has brought into our lives.

Expect the unexpected to be turned inward, as this wants us to integrate the changes we’ve experienced this year and prepare for the next wave of our evolution.

Later in the afternoon, Pluto retrogrades back into 29 degrees Capricorn. This is monumental. It’s the last time in our lives that Pluto will be in Capricorn before it fully commits to Aquarius. From September 1st until November 19th, we’ll be revisiting the very end of this transformative journey through Capricorn - tying up loose ends, confronting what’s left to change in our structures and foundations before Pluto finally moves on. Life will never be quite the same again after this fall.
