Weekly Horoscope June 17-23, 2024

Week in Overview

I have to be honest—this week's forecast was particularly challenging for me. The Sunday night square between Mercury and Venus in Gemini, to Neptune in Pisces at those intense 29 degrees, made it very, very hard to focus and concentrate. The energy was so scattered and dreamy, that it felt almost impossible to gather my thoughts and put them into words. So this may be a shorter and more generalized forecast.

A big shift occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, June 17. Mercury entered Cancer just after 2 am, joining Venus. So, as we start Monday morning, we have Mercury and Venus now both in Cancer, and they will both be conjunct just before 6 am. This is a very significant conjunction as we start to shift towards Cancer season.

Monday morning can feel incredibly nurturing for the collective. When these two planets come together in this emotional water sign, it enhances our ability to communicate with empathy and compassion. Expect conversations to be more heartfelt and meaningful, and you might feel a stronger desire to connect with loved ones on a deeper level. It’s a great time for emotional healing and expressing your feelings openly. Those with early degree Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces placements will feel this especially but we all will.

Mercury is no longer in its home sign of Gemini, which means our thoughts will likely slow down. We'll become more introspective, seeking depth and heartfelt communication in general. Mercury is moving really, really quickly right now, so it’ll only be in the sign of Cancer for about two weeks, just like it was only in Gemini for two weeks. This rapid pace might make us actually appreciate the slowdown in Cancer, as it gives us a chance to catch our breath and focus on what's truly important.

One thing I would caution people about on Monday is the very tense T-square energy between the Scorpio Moon, Mars in Taurus, and Pluto in Aquarius. So, while there may be a desire to communicate our feelings, there's also this underlying tension with that T-square. We might be forced to confront some very deep issues and fears with honesty and courage. It’s important to stay grounded and be prepared to face these intense emotions head-on. Just try not to get caught up in a power struggle, focus on what you can control about yourself, not others.

Tuesday and Wednesday are relatively quiet in terms of astrological events, but we are dealing with a Scorpio Moon from Monday until Wednesday morning when it then enters Sagittarius. Scorpio moons can make things feel a little bit edgy and intense. With all that water energy from Venus in Cancer, Mercury in Cancer, and the Moon in Scorpio, there could be a lot of emotionality in the air to start the week. The Moon is also waxing, so we're building up to a full Moon on Friday.

What we're also dealing with the first few days of the week is the Sun building up in its square to Neptune. The Sun in Gemini is approaching its final moments in Gemini, reaching 29 degrees by lunchtime on Wednesday, and the square will be exact on Thursday morning, just before it enters Cancer.

Thursday morning might feel particularly confusing and foggy. This square can blur our sense of identity and direction, making it hard to see things clearly. You might feel more dreamy or disoriented, struggling to differentiate between reality and illusion. This is a time when our intuition and emotions might be heightened, but also potentially misleading.

It's important to avoid making any major decisions or commitments during this period. Instead, try to go with the flow and give yourself space to navigate these murky waters. As the Sun moves into Cancer later in the day, the energy will shift, bringing a more nurturing and protective feeling, helping us to regain a sense of stability and comfort.

When the Sun enters Cancer on Thursday, June 20, we'll have Mercury, Venus, and the Sun all in Cancer. This makes for a very nurturing, sensitive, and emotional atmosphere. It’s a time when we might feel more connected to our home, family, and inner world. While it's important to embrace these feelings, we also need to be mindful not to become overly emotional or reactive. Cancer tends to put its guard up at the slightest hint of danger or ill-will.

Thursday also marks the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer. It's a moment of new beginnings and a shift as we move into a season of warmth and growth. The Solstice is a powerful time to embrace the light, both literally and metaphorically.

As the Sun squares Neptune in the morning before entering Cancer, Thursday can feel a bit hazy and uncertain for any rituals, but if you can ground yourself it can be the perfect time to set intentions. Maybe start your day by watching the sunrise and reflecting on your aspirations, despite any foggy feelings. Spend time outdoors, connecting with nature, and visualize your intentions coming true. Or create a sacred space in your home dedicated to the solstice, and meditate on your goals.

Now that we have the Sun, Venus, and Mercury in Cancer, it also marks the breakup of the cluster of stellium that have dominated since the start of the year. The energy is no longer as concentrated; everything is starting to spread out. Previously, we had stellium in Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, and Gemini, but that's no longer the case. As the planets move into different signs, the energy will begin to diversify, offering new opportunities and perspectives.

On Friday, just after 6 pm, we have the Full Moon in Capricorn, accompanied by an out-of-sign square to Neptune in Pisces. This lunation brings a culmination related to our goals, ambitions, and responsibilities. It's a time to celebrate our achievements and recognize our hard work. However, the square to Neptune adds a layer of dreaminess and potential confusion to the mix. We may be still grappling with illusions or uncertainties, especially regarding our long-term plans. It's essential to stay grounded and discerning during this time, making sure our actions align with our practical goals rather than getting lost in fantasy or idealism.

With this Full Moon, emotions may run high. The Moon is in detriment in the sign of Capricorn, opposite its ruler, Cancer, which can leave us feeling emotionally strained and vulnerable. This combination, compounded by the recent Neptune squares to the Sun, Mercury and Venus, may intensify lingering feelings of confusion and sensitivity.

We might feel unsure of how to navigate the turbulent waters. Additionally, there's a risk of taking on too much work or responsibility, as Capricorn tends to push us towards overworking ourselves.

So prioritize self-care and nurture your feelings during this period. Be prepared for heightened emotional responses and remember to give yourself permission to rest and recharge when needed.

On Saturday, following the intensity of the Full Moon, Mercury is exact in its square to the nodes, while the Moon opposes Mercury and itself squares the nodes. This sets the stage for a cardinal grand cross, with the Moon in Capricorn, Mercury in Cancer, the North Node in Aries, and the South Node in Libra.

This is full of tension and challenge, urging us to confront unresolved issues and make important decisions. With the Moon in Capricorn, we may feel a sense of duty and responsibility, while Mercury in Cancer makes us extra sensitive, with a need for security.

The North Node in Aries wants us to embrace courage and assertiveness, while the South Node in Libra reminds us to let go of old patterns of codependency and seek balance in our relationships.

This grand cross is a powerful catalyst for growth and transformation, but it may also bring up feelings of frustration and conflict. Conversations could be explosive and some will be torn between being true to themselves while fulfilling their responsibilities. Try to stay grounded, remain open to new perspectives, and trust in your ability to overcome challenges with resilience and determination.

Those with personal cardinal placements in Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, around those 12 to 14 degrees, will be feeling the effects particularly strongly. Pay extra attention to how this aspect is impacting you, as it may bring significant developments and challenges in those areas of your life.

On Sunday, the Capricorn Moon continues to dominate the day. It squares Chiron in the morning, which can bring up more feelings of sensitivity and vulnerability. It's important to be gentle with ourselves and others during this time, as emotional wounds may surface more easily. Take things slow and allow yourself to process any emotions that arise, knowing that it's all part of the healing journey.

However, the intensity doesn't end there. Just after 8 pm, on Sunday night, the Moon enters Aquarius and forms a conjunction with Pluto, adding a potent and energy to the end of the weekend. This can bring deep emotions to the surface and may get us to confront subconscious fears or desires. Allow yourself to embrace this intensity and trust in the process of personal growth and evolution.

COMING UP…

Next week, on Saturday, June 29, Saturn in Pisces stations retrograde until November 15. We are already feeling the slowdown now. Saturn, the planet of structure, discipline, and responsibility, turning retrograde in Pisces, the sign of spirituality and intuition, marks a period of inner reflection and reassessment of our commitments and boundaries.

During this retrograde, we may feel the need to revisit our long-term goals and consider whether they align with our spiritual path and higher purpose. We are being invited to confront any illusions or limitations that may be holding us back from achieving our dreams.

Saturn's desire for structure and stability is challenged in Pisces, a sign known for its malleability and fluidity. Pisces energy can be fickle and elusive, making it difficult to impose rigid boundaries or structures.

Therefore, during Saturn's retrograde in Pisces, it becomes crucial to trust our intuition and inner guidance more than ever. For much of the remainder of this year, we may need to surrender to the flow of life and allow ourselves to be guided by our instincts rather than relying solely on external frameworks or rationality. These next five months invite us to embrace flexibility and adaptability, recognizing that true strength lies in our ability to navigate the ever-changing currents of life with grace, wisdom and faith.
